Requirements:
Eye Candy 3, Paint Shop Pro 7, Flaming Pear Flood Filter (Part 2)
Begin by opening a new, transparent palette 600 x 400
Layer, New Raster Layer
We are now going to select two complimentary colors to create the
Foreground/Background Gradient we will use for our text. Your
foreground color will be your darker color. Choose a color in a
medium range, not too dark. Now set your background color to a
complimentary light color in the same hue tones. As an example,
you could use $465C80 for your darker color and #97ACC7 for your lighter
color.
Lock your stroke color box.
Set your fill color box to gradient, linear gradient, angle 0, repeats
0. Foreground-Background Gradient.
Now that you have your gradient set, click on your text tool. For
this tutorial, you will want to use a font that gives you slightly
thicker text. A common font that will work fine is Baskerville.
Depending on the font you have chosen, you will want to work with a type
size 72 or larger, given the size of our palette. If using
Baskerville, depending on your text, you will use a size of somewhere
between 120 and 150. Experiment to see what fits your palette
well.
Apply your text and do NOT deselect.
Effects, Plug in Effects, Eye Candy 3, Glass with the following
settings:
Bevel: 6
Bevel Shape: Rounded
Flaw Spacing: 151
Flaw Thickness: 50
Opacity: 23
Refraction: 1
Glass Color: Choose a color that is in the same color family as
the colors you used to
make your gradient text only brighter, but not neon. If using the
colors listed above
try a pastel turquoise for your glass color.
Highlight Brightness: 57
Highlight Sharpness: 40
Lighting Direction: 135
Inclination: 45
Apply and do NOT deselect your text.
Effects, Plug In Effects, Eye Candy 3, Drop Shadow with the following
settings:
Shadow Direction: 300
Distance: 3
Opacity: 32
Color: Use Black or a very dark color in the same hue family as
your gradient colors
Apply and do NOT deselect your text.
Go back to Eye Candy 3, Drop Shadow and change the Shadow Direction to
120. All other settings remain the same.
NOW you can deselect your text.
That's all there is to it. Now you can fill Layer 1, your
background layer (see mosaic background tutorial below), and add a layer
above your text to add a tube if you like.
We hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

This makes a wonderful background for your glass text.
Set your foreground color to #97ACC7 and your background color to
#465C80. (This is the exact opposite of the settings we used in
the glass text tutorial above). If you used different colors for
your text, simply reverse your foreground and background colors, so that
your foreground color is the lighter color and your background color is
the darker color.
Using a Foreground-Background Linear Gradient fill, angle 0, repeats 0,
flood fill your background layer (layer 1 if you are continuing from the
text tutorial).
Effects, Noise, Add 3-7 uniform.
Effects, Plug In Effects, Flaming Pear, Flood with the following
settings:
Horizon: 19
Offset: 0
Perspective: 37
Attitude: 54
Waviness: 64
Complexity: 57
Brilliance: 78
Blur: 64
Size: 27
Height: 51
Undulation: 51
Effects, Texture Effects, Mosaic-Antique with the following settings:
Number of Columns: 50
Number of Rows: 50
Symmetric: Checked
Tile Opacity: 100
Grout Width: 2
Grout Opacity: 50
Now, make your text layer active and go to Layer, New Raster Layer.
Add a tube of your choice, we recommend a tube in the same color tones
as your background and text). Position on your text.
With you tube layer active, go to Effects, Plug in Effects, Eye Candy 3,
Glass with the same settings you used on your glass text.
Layers, merge, merge visible.
Effects, Artistic Effects, Sepia, Age by 18.
That's it! Now you can frame your image as you would like!
We think this makes an interesting effect and hope you enjoyed this
combo tutorial!
